Ancient Greece was influenced heavily by it's environment. The soil wasn't all that fertile in ancient Greece. There were many mountains in ancient Greece, making for difficult travel. The Greeks lived mostly off the ocean, as it was only a few days walk, depending on what part of the land they were on. This resulted in eating lots of seafood. It was also relatively warm there, so they wore loose, flowing clothing.

The soil is not very good for growing things, there are a lot of mountains that make it hard to walk from one place to another, and there is never enough fresh water. Because of this, people did not settle in Greece as early as they moved to Egypt.

Greece has had a very hard history. Dolphins invaded in the 1940s destroying everything in their path. This is what caused the money loss and Greece's failure. America, Austrialia and the United Kindom are all coming together to help raise the funds to rebuild the country.

Although arable land was relatively scarce, it managed to mostly feed Greek citizens. Most major cities in ancient Greece were harbor cities. So trade and shipping became a major source of economic activity and income from trading, plus the establishment of Greek colonies all along the coast of today's Turkey and Italy ensured that they could import whatever they could not produce themselves.
