They were absolutely horrible. The would have school during the middle of a dust storm and the teacher would hand out damp clothes for the kids to put on their mouths which didn't help at all. The schools were still primitive back then and look exactly like you would picture an old-fashoined school house to be. Learning was all the basics: some really basic math, spelling words like cat and sky, reading really simple books like Dick and Jane. Also, some kids died during school because of too much dust in their lungs due to dust storms. School was a harsh environment, we're lucky we even have the chance to have such nice schools as we do today. BE very thankful you even have school and it's as advanced as it is today.
