Little is known about how women were treated in Sparta, but girls were raised similarly to boys, with an emphasis put on physical strength and ability. Woman were in charge of the home and children since men were often away at war.

Ahm, Actually Sparta has only its LIMITED outsiders that would enter there City. as they allow foreigners they are too strict with it only known outsiders are allowed.
In Sparta, you're always at work. If you are a guy, you would go to military training when you are 7. If you're a woman, you are training to fight and throw heavy discs and grow strong so that they can have strong healthy sons.

Sparta Woman had much more freedom the Athenian woman. Sparta woman also had a better education than Athens.
Women were not more important then men were in Sparta and Athens. Men just had a lot of pride in the selfs and thought that the woman should not be treated as well. They just plain had to much pride in themselfs.
Women were treated in Sparta very well compared to its neighboring sisters of Athens. They allowed much more freedom and dominated society even when men were at war.
