The object of Counterfeit Island is to prevent the theft of valuable artwork. The player will travel to a remote French island and tour the town and its museum. By getting involved in a possible art theft, you will learn about art and some of the ways it is protected, including the tests for art forgeries. You will eventually pursue and capture one of the world's most notorious art thieves, the Black Widow. (see related question)

The owner is at the Web Browser Cafe and he is preoccupied with computer games. Go Downtown and take a green balloon from the Clown Store to the crying boy in the Country Side (his mother says "my son wants a green balloon"). The resulting TV coverage will distract the player and you can return his tickets.

The alarm cannot be disabled. It goes off automatically when someone approaches the painting "The Scream" at night. The player is caught (as he is supposed to be) and the thief then takes advantage of the alarm's reset to steal the painting.

There is nothing you can do. This is only a distraction so you can get the attention of the computer player at the Internet Cafe. You will see "balloon boy" later during the Scooter Chase, still floating over the city. This was later revealed as a deliberate hoax by his parents.)

The computer game is not relevant to the quest. The addicted game player has lost his Underground tickets, but to get his attention you have to take a green balloon from the Clown Store to the kid in the Country Side. The tickets are in a trash can to the right of the Underground entrance - return them and he will give you one to use.
