Whether or not an incident is covered under a homeowners policy is mostly dependent on the cause of the loss. I cannot think of any cause of loss that would be covered for damage to French drains. No. Read the policy. A homeowners policy covers all kinds of things but it must be a covered cause. One of the primary caveats to the cause is that is is sudden and accidental and not maintenance related. Moss would have to have a very long time to actually damage shingles and also really is a maintenance issue. A little clorox and water every year or two would have killed the moss and it is probably caused by sapp of such comming from an overhanging tree. In any case the cause is not covered. Sorry.
