It's unlikely any amount of water could get close enough to the sun to touch it. In 2011, a 132 million-pound comet (which is mostly ice) was vaporized completely from some 60,000 miles away from the sun's surface. Any amount of water approaching this great "nuclear furnace" in the sky whould likely turn to steam and then plasma as it continued to heat and, ultimately, vaporize.
