I work for a large Network Services company in Utah and whenever we estimate a project we charge by the cable drop also known as the cable location. Price varies obviously depending on how many cables per location. Other factors to consider when we are estimating is whether the customer wants cat 5e or cat 6, how long the average cable run is going to be, whether is it a plenum or non plenum air space and what brand of cable and jacks we are going to be using.
