With only a few exceptions, the Johnson administration was only a continuation of the Kennedy legacy. The exceptions may have been their positions on Vietnam and there was no love lost between President Johnson and Bobby Kennedy.

Both were skilled politicial operatives each cut from a different mold or kind of clothe.Kennedy appeared suave, mundane, educated and good looking. Johnson was brash, forward, overtly obscene in a Soutwestern kind of way. He could bully and cajole and unlike Kennedy he knew the Washington political scene like very few others. He knew the cards to play, which closet held vile skeletons and the strings to pull. JFK was a reluctant politician driven by his father's Big Plan and a sense of community service. LBJ was driven as only a less then privileged beginning in life will provide, to make his mark and his failure to be accepted by the electorate almost destroyed him. The Kennedy image will last for generations. The Johnson dream and what he did accomplish will last forever.
