You can't literally. You can't really explain what anything literally looks like to a blind person. They have no seeable conception of up and down, left and right, white and black, road and side-walk, long and short, etc.
Notice how I said literally. They can still hear and feel and smell. For the example of a road. You can make them feel water, and smell it, and even taste it. You can tell them from those what water is. You can also make them feel the concrete powder and the texture, make them smell it, and I recommend not making them taste it. You tell them you mix rocks, water, and concrete powder together to get a road. You make them feel the road, listen to what happens on the road, and guide them the length of the road. This will show them a rough seeable idea of the road.
The same thing can be said for color. Give the color a smell, something to feel, or even a taste, and describe it from that to them.
Another difficult way of doing it is telling them that they see nothing. They see the color black, and tell them to go lighter from this point of darkness to describe color becoming lighter.
( it is just a matter of concept ) for a blind man to describe and recognize and store some info in his memory, he would use his other senses like touch, taste, smelling and hearing

In order to describe the color gray to a blind person, it would be beneficial to connect it with one of the other senses. It may described as: the sound of footsteps on concrete, the smell of rain, the smooth texture of stainless steel.
It is creamy like a cup of hot chocolate on a cold day with a dark warmness.
This is a very interesting question, and believe it or not, it comes up frequently. I personally think (and I could be totally wrong), that there is no way to describe any color to some one who has been blind from birth. We can also ask, "does a blind person from birth dream, and if so what do they see, if anything." I will be looking in on this question from time to time. I am very interested in what others have to say. Viper1 ANSWER Color is also Different for every person, as your irises are different from others. If they have ever seen some color, then you could compare it, otherwise, then you would be just best to compare it to things that have tastes or colors, since how could they imagine it. Here is a good question, what do blind people see in their thoughts? Colors, even People?

It is dominant. Most likely if the female had children then all her sons would be color blind. If she herself was also color blind then all her children would be color blind too.
Color is a visual perception that occurs when light reflects off an object and enters our eyes. It is determined by the wavelengths of light that are absorbed and reflected by the object, which our brains then interpret as specific hues. Colors can evoke emotions, convey information, and play a fundamental role in how we perceive the world around us.
