Kourabiedes (Kourabiethes) (Greek: κουραμπιέδες) is a Greek butter cookie that can be made with or without almonds. The cookie is sometimes made with brandy, usually Metaxa, and confectioner's sugar. Additional confectioner's sugar is then added on top of the cookie. It is eaten on special occasions, such as Christmas or christenings. They come in varied shapes, like circles.
In Egypt, these cookies are called kahk. Kahk is a traditional sweet dish served most commonly during Eid ul-Fitr in Egypt. It is a shortbread biscuit covered with icing sugar, which may be stuffed with dates, walnuts, agameya (like turkish-delight), or just served plain.
