This would depend on a lot of things. Spiritually, it is hoped that the pilgrimage was an opportunity to pray more than usual, to seek out religious artifacts or locales and understand them and enter into them, and to find peace in the soul and come closer to God and one's religion.
Some people come back from a pilgrimage with much spiritual consolation and joy, and some in a state of desolation, while still others may be in a state of indifference. These are often emotional responses, which are not the point of a pilgrimage. A desolate person may have gained more than the consoled person, for instance, the desolate may have realized a great truth about their own life that involves change that seems very hard and makes them sad. The experience is highly personal, but as long as one makes the effort, it is well done.
They go to pilgrimage to feel closer to God, to feel solidarity as a big gathering, to renew their faith, and to return back more spiritually pure.
HOLY i would feel happy that i am going on this particular journey for my beliefe
they were glad it was over and that there familys were coming back but some were sad because there family would not be coming home from the war
They feel closer to God.
Quite fulfilling i think :)
I would run for my life and be really scared! What about you?
they hated it and wnted to move back but they stayed for influential purposes
worried if he would come back or not
Man is to respect God and not the other way around. A Creator doesn't respect its creation. Those who undertake a pilgrimage should do so because they wish to feel nearer to God, not to feel respected by God.
