You would use a capital letter. And for the recessive a lower case.

For example.

Brown hair is dominant over blonde.

B for Brown (the dominant)

And b for Blonde (the recessive)

The dominant traits are normally written in capital letter eg Red flowers (R) and Blue flowers (b), since Red flowers are described by a capital R, it is dominant compared to the lower case b (Blue flower which is the recessive trait)

An organism carrying one dominant and dominant and one recessive allele for a particular trait would be what for that trait?

Heterozygous.

Dominant gene plus Dominant gene?

It would be definite that you have that gene or trait.

If a pattern of inheritance for a trait is complete dominance then an organism heterozygous for the trait would normally express?

If a trait is dominant, then an organisms heterozygous (hybrid) for that trait would normally show: A) The recessive trait only B) The dominant trait only C) A blend of the recessive and dominant traits D) A phenotype unlike that of either parent B) The dominant trait only! Reason being because heterozygous means the pair of genes are different. When this occurs, only the dominant trait is expressed.

A trait which always appears when it is present is called what kind of trait?

It is called a dominant trait

How can an organism have two different alleles for one trait but show one observable trait?

One allele would be dominant and the second allele would be recessive, so the organism would show only the dominant trait.

Trait of an organism that can be masked by the dominant by the dominant form of a trait?

A trait that masks another trait is called dominant, or a dominant trait.

What is a dominate trait?

Dominant trait is a genetics term. A dominant trait is one which will be expressed if one of the parents has the gene for that trait. A recessive trait is one that will be expressed only if both parents carry the trait.

What is an observable trait of an organism that can mask a recessive trait?

The observable characteristic are called the genotype and any dominant trait can mask the recessive. An example would be Black Angus cattle can actually carry a red recessive trait because black is the dominant trait in cattle breeding

What does it mean to be homozygous dominant heterozygous or homozygous recessive?

Homozygous means "same" so a homozygous recessive trait would be a same [with parents] trait that is not the stronger trait which is dominant. Dominant is stronger showing trait, recessive is weaker trait. If you are dealing with Punnett squares then tt is homozygous recessive and TT is homozygous dominant. Hope this helped...

How many offspring are likely to have recessive traits if the parents are hybrids?

50%. There are four possible outcomes of the cross:dominant trait from "dad", dominant trait from "mom"recessive trait from "dad", dominant trait from "mom"dominant trait from "dad", recessive trait from "mom"recessive trait from "dad", recessive trait from "mom"Therefore, to get hybrid offspring (one dominant, one recessive), you have a 2 out of 4 chance.

Would a mutation be a dominate or a recessive trait?

A mutation can be either recessive or dominant depending on what trait it is.

What is a dominat trait dictionary?

A dominant trait is part of genetics in which a trait will appear in an offspring if one parent contributes it. For example, if one parent contributes the dominant trait of dark hair and the other contributes the recessive trait of light hair, the offspring would have dark hair.
