The U.S. National Park Service website has a large number of downloadable maps of hiking trails for Yosemite. These are graded according to length and difficulty, so you can choose whatever suits you.
One of the great things about hiking is that you need relatively little equipment to do it. The only real costs might be a good pair of hiking socks ($10-$20) and a pair of hiking shoes or boots ($100-$400). Even these items may be optional depending on the length and difficulty of your hike. On an easy trail, you may find a regular pair of runners sufficient - though I would still suggest a good pair of socks. Items such as outdoor clothing, water bottles, daypacks, trecking poles and location devices (compasses, GPS) are optional additions you may or may not wish to pursue depending again on the length and difficulty of your hike.

If you join a hiking club you can find an organized hike for every level of difficulty and social group imaginable. You can go on strenuous a hike for 20 to 30 something singles, for example. Or you can go on an easier hike with your whole family and other families. Hiking clubs also plan other adventures such as sky diving, biking and camping. The main thing is to figure out what you want to do. Then you are very likely to find it.

A filter question is a question you ask in order to determine if the person you're speaking to is a candidate for another question. For Example. You want to know how many times someone has gone hiking, in order to ask this question, you may ask a filter question first of "Have you ever gone hiking?".
