Where is the ipr valve located on a ford 6.0l diesel?

It is located on the top of the HPOP High Pressure Oil Pump center of engine in back by firewall. Takes a 34mm flat wrench or a handy dandy ford cut out socket.

Can the cam sensor on a 3126 cat be changed without pulling the hpop pump?

yes i did it

What causes a long crank on a 2006 e450 6.0l diesel?

Engine oil HIGH pressure from HPOP pump is TOO LOW. Sometimes just an oil change to 15-40 rotella can alleviate problem BUT usuallly the oil plugs push out of the high pressure pump and cause low oil pressure to the injectors or the ICP sensor failed. the injectors must have high pressure oil to open and allow fuel to flow. the 6.0 hpop is in engine valley just under oil filter housing..do not attempt to replace if your not a ford diesel tech..can be very expensive lesson if you're not familiar with this engine.. normal cost for this oil pump repair is about 3,000.00.

What would cause a f250 to not start after replacing the high pressure oil pump?

check the oil level in the hpop.

Where is the high pressure oil pump?

the hpop on a 99 7.3 is on top of motor right in front of fuel filter it should have a tag that tells part #

What is the recommended oil for a Ford F-250 6.0 diesel engine?

Ford recommends a 15w40 Diesel Oil for the PowerStroke 6.0. Any of the current diesel oils will be fine for the PS including Valvoline Premium Blue, Shell Rotella T3 and Mobil Delvac. BUT, the HPOP has a tendency to shear the oil and reduce it to a 30 weight. Most 6.0PS owners find that Shell Rotella T5 10w30, or Chevron Delo 10w30 is the "real world, field tested" best oil for the 6.0 . Stay with the factory Ford , or the Fram cartridge filters that are made by Racor for the oil filter. With regular maintenance, the 6.0 will run 200,000 miles.

2004 6.0 liter powerstroke icp sensor location?

Its located on the HPOP under the turbo. It is accessable fro under the truck, it is on the drivers side rear of the engine. You'll need an 1 1/16" socket to remove it.

How do you check the injector pump on a 2002 Ford power stroke?

The 7.3L does not use an injector pump like the 6.4L or any other commonrail diesel. The 7.3 uses HEUI injection which uses a HPOP(High Pressure Oil Pump) to pressurize the engine oil. To check to see if this pump is operating as it should you first need to open the cap on the high pressure oil reservoir and make sure it is almost full. This reservoir is the one at the front top of the engine and squarish. If that checks out good you need to put a scanner on the truck and do a test of the ICP pressure

How long does it take to remove and install a high pressure oil pump on a 6.0 diesel?

Need the year!!! Due to changes to the pump and intake systems the 2003-early04 have a different procedure. If you have the 03 remove the turbo and intake because it has a one piece intake that goes over the HPOP COVER. Some 04 you need to remove intake some you don't. Rule of thumb if you have the cast iron hpop cover with aluminum pump take out intake and turbo. I you have mid04-07 with aluminum hpop cover and cast iron pump you only need to remove the turbo and mount, IPR VALVE, two 8mm heat shield bolts and the cover bolts, egr cooler to y-pipe clamp. With the 2 bolts still in the cover (ones under egr cooler) push y-pipe up and to the right while twisting and turning the hpop cover making sure to not drop the bolts into the engine. When going back together use a cut off wheel and cut the little nub off flush. The little aluminum piece that the 8mm bolt screws into. Make sure to trans gel the 2 bolts into the cover to secure them and with the piece cut off the cover basically falls into place. You still have the other nub to bolt up the heat shield and haven't ever had a cust notice i did that. Pretty hidden and you don't have to loosen the y-pipes at the manifolds this way. I do it all the time it works great!! Flate-rate tech so faster ways the more $!! Hope this helps. Good luck!!

How do you fix trouble code P2290 on a 2005 Ford F-250 Super Duty 6.0 diesel?

P2290 indicate a difference in the commanded and actual injection control pressure.Possible causes:incorrect oil or viscositypoor oil qualitygelled fuel/no fuellow fuel pressurebiased ICP sensorIPR valvehigh-pressure oil system leakhigh-pressure oil pumpPCMVerify correct oil quality/viscosity and correct fuel grade are being used for the temperature conditionsMOST LIKELY HIGH PRESSURE OIL LEAK (DUMMY PLUGS IN HIGH PRESSURE OIL RAIL)OR..... STC FITTING ON BACK OF THE HPOP. MAY HAVE BLOWN OFF DO THE DUMMY PLUGS TOO WHILE YOUR AT IT YOUR GONNA HAVE TO DO IT ONE DAY IF YOU DO IT NOW YOUR BRANCH TUBE WON'T BE BENT IF YOU WAIT AND IT HAPPENS YOU MIGHT NEED A BRANCH TUBE DEPENDING ON HOW HARD IT BLOWS OFF AND A REAR COVER TOO CAUSE WHEN THEY REALLY BLOW OFF IT CAN CRACK THE REAR COVER AND NOW YOUR TALKING BIG $$. BUT YES LOW ICP IS TYPICALLY DUMMY PLUGS, STC FITTING IF THEY HAVEN'T EVER BEEN DONE. IPR CAN CAUSE TOO AFTER SOME MILES ARE PUT ON IT SO DON'T FROGET THE IPR TOO OH YA AND THE HPOP DO FAIL NOT THAT COMMON BUT SOMETIMES THEY DO. JUST DO THE RAIL PLUGGS AND STC AND BE DONE WITH IT! GOOD LUCK

The oil system and how it works directly with the fuel rail and injectors on the 2001 ford f250 7.3ltr thanks for any help........my high pressure res. is whats in question.?

Well not sure of the question?? The fuel delivery is by a frame mounted fuel pump produces approx 50-60psi. The fuel is then put threw the fuel filter and then interduced to the cyl head then the fuel injectors and when the time is right is delivered to the cyl. The injectors are called HEUI injectors fired by high pressure oil pressure. A low side oil pump pulls oil from the oil pan and put into the HPOP (high pressure oil pump) resivior. That low pressure oil is then converted to high pressure approx 3000psi at any given point. That oil is also introduced to each cylinder head and injectors. When the injector is electronically energized the oil pressure forces pincle valves in the injector down and delivers the fuel (SIMPLE TERMS) So you need at least 55psi of fuel pressure and at least 500+ psi of oil pressure to start a 7.3L DI. You would need a scan tool to monitor ICP INCECTOR CONTROL PRESSURE. and even more specialty tools to dead head the HPOP and or the cyl heads. Lots of times the HPOP line o'rings will blow out and need replacing. Your best bet is to rent a scan tool and pull codes. If your get ICP codes Low while cranking, Low/High while running etc. You may need to take it to a dealer to do the correct tests to the high pressure oiling system. Just make sure you have fuel pressure. Pin-point test for ICP codes can be set due to low or restricted fuel flow. I feel like you think that your HPOP may be faulty only real way is to do the proper tests to oiling system. Or you could spend the better half of the morning replacing it and about $500-600 bucks on a hunch??? Good luck and be well. Oh yeah one more thing. If you remove a plug on top of the oil resivior and it is empty you could try and fill it with 15w-40 and see if it starts. If it does then dies then you know you have a problem with your low side oil pump and or pick-up tube. If you have a more detailed question feel free to send me a message I would be more then happy to help!! Powerstroke57
