The video format (file name extension) has to be compatible with Windows Movie Maker before you can import/edit the video in the program.
Samsung camcorder video is usually in a MOV or QT format (file name extension) which is not compatible. So I suggest you import the video first, using Windows Photo Gallery. Click on File, Import from Scanner or Camera. Locate the camera and import the video from it into the Gallery.
Once you have the video imported into Windows Photo Gallery, right-click on the video file and choose Properties from the drop-down menu. What format (file name extension) does it have? If the file name extension is not one of those listed below, it is NOT compatible with Windows Movie Maker and will need to be converted before it can be used in the program.
.asf, .avi, dvr-ms, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, .wmv
Video converters can be downloaded free online. Simply Google: free video converters. Choose one and download it. Follow the program conversion instructions to convert the Samsung video into a format (file name extension) compatible with Windows Movie Maker. If conversion is successful, you will be able to import and edit the video in the program.
You don't.
You can use both video and photographs from a camcorder on Windows Movie Maker.
How are you trying to import the video? With Windows Movie Maker, Windows Photo Gallery (or other program)? Windows Photo Gallery should work for importing your hd camcorder video. Windows Movie Maker is rather persnickety with importing (my experience anyhow). Open Windows Photo Gallery and click on File, Import from Scanner or Camera.
