If you download a song or import a CD from a compilation (a greatest hits or best of album) the albums artist will not show up under the "artists" section of your iPod. Oddly enough some bands you put on your iPod will show up under artists even if you get the songs from a compilation. To get the songs to show up under artists, right click on the album, scroll down to "get info", and scroll over to options. Once you are here it will give you several options, one asking if you want the album to be part of a compilation. Click on the box next to "Part of a Compilation" and that will turn that option off. Sync your iPod and the artist should show up under "artists". Another weird thing is that if you just have one song downloaded or imported from a compilation, the "Part of a Compilation" option will not show up, I have no idea why. To fix this, import a second song off of a CD, turn the "compilation" option off, then, if it is a song you don't like, delete it. If you downloaded one song off of an album and want no more songs off of that album, I have no idea what to do! It's really stupid that iTunes set it up that way. The only iPod that I know of that won't show an artist with songs from a compilation is the iPod classic, which is the one I have. Who ever reads this I you, it is the only solution that I know of. If anyone has a better answer, please post it.
