I'm trying to build a sort of meditation station with a small sort of zen garden type deal but I don't know what type of plants to use. what are a few plants I could use for this?

The plants depend on the amount of light and soil conditions. Evergreens, moss, and hosta have been used for some zen gardens. Gravel or sand is often used. Pintrest has some pictures.

Without a plan of your garden, it's impossible to know exactly where to place plants. That said, there are two good general rules to follow for placement. First, give the plans room to grow. You're probably not trying to make money so plant for yourself so the plants are easy to tend. Second, make sure that plants that need sun get it. (A few don't.) Look for areas of the plot that are in the sun most of the day and concetrate plantings there.
