everyone says po171 and npo174 are map sensor problems, i do not think so, the egr pressure sensor collects vaccum and tells computer about the egr , what i am finding ,especially in winter, the 2 hoses going to the pressure sensor get full of crud and the sensor cant read anymore.Today i found a 1997 ranger with po171 and po174 codes ,the hoses were fine but ice had built up inside the knozles of the egr valve pressure sensor causing it not to read.check hoses and look for vaccum leaks first. I concur with the vacuum leak. To find, spray carb cleaner around all suspect hoses and manifold areas with engine at idle. When the idle speed increases, you have found the vacuum leak!

Have you had your 4 oxygen sensors replaced? It turns out when they replaced my oxygen sensors, they were after market parts so the service engine light did not come and gave codes even though they were replaced.

1998 Ford Ranger oxygen sensors go out every 3 months puts out codes po171 po174 each time what could be causing sensors to go out?

It's important to buy genuine Ford parts. If you are not, this is probably the reason it continues. Also, check the reader on your mass air sensor (it's a wire). If it has crud on it, it will tell the engine that there is not as much air going through it then there really is and the motor will run lean.

What are possible reasons for error codes po171 fuel trim system lean bank 1 and po174 fuel trim system lean bank 2 on a 2000 Nissan maxima?

from what i have experienced check the MAF sensor. you should check your o2 sensors also could be multiple things . but o2 sensors are a great place to start yes he is correct. however the maf or fuel filter or vacuum leak.. not o2s usually
