In many plants, leaf and stem epidermis is covered by a wax-like layer of cutin, which protects the plants from excessive water loss, and from pathogen attack."
Epidermis is on the outside of root just beneath the palisade layer of the leaves. The epidermis is common in roots and will be used to absorb nutrients.
