I accidentally vacuumed dirt in my pool using backwash mode instead of waste mode. How do I get the dirt out from under the sand?

There wont be any dirt under the sand. When you vacuum your pool you should do it on filter mode Otherwise you will lose a lot of water for nothing, this would be especially wasteful in the case of a salt water pool. Ofter having vacuumed the pool on filter mode and if the pressure gets too high backwash. after backwash rinse for a minute, then return to filter.

How are pebble beaches formed?
Beaches composed of pebbles and other larger materials are usually described as intermediate or reflective beaches. They usually have a steep offshore slope and are narrow and steep in relief. Waves are either 'collapsing' or 'surging' in character with a strong swash and weak backwash. Hence larger pebble material is driven onshore under a strong swash and then deposited as the backwash is too weak to remove it. Also, on pebble beaches quite a bit of energy in the backwash will be lost via percolation (usually 33-50%) which further weakens the backwash.

My backwash pool valve will not fully close. Can pine needles get inside?
Mine did the same. The rubber gasket under the valve knob had become messed up. I unscrewed the valve and put the gasket back in place. My local pool place says this happens alot when you turn the valve from backwash to filter while the pump is running.
