I am signed up for a backpacking trip but the only reason I am still going is because I don't want to let my friends down and everything I want to do during the summer conflicts what should I do?

Will it really disrupt the group if you do not go? Leave someone without a partner or cause a problem for the whole group. If it does and you signed up to go then you should probably go through with it. You never know, you might just enjoy yourself. If it does not cause a major problem for the group, don't go if you don't want to. Explain you have changed your mind and have other things you would rather do.
