Try to get out there more and put yourself in a position to make friends such as teams, sports, groups etc. Be yourself, don't go out of your way to impress and don't be afraid to speak up, don't be overbearing, pushy or needy - let them come to you as well or call you when becoming friends then that will show you that people do like you - but don't do this in a snobbish way .
