It would be very difficult to install this safety device on a vehicle that did not come equipped with it in the first place. It may be possible, so I suggest you talk to a ASE certified mechanic familiar with your model vehicle.
Possibly a problem with the brake light switch It is linked to the gear selector If the switch is faulty you cannot select gears Make sure the brake lights are working
Need to know if it is standard or automatic.
mine does
automatic ushel has park,reves,nutral,drive,1st,2nd,and 3rd
Inhibitor switch reduces engine power to avoid shock while automatic transmission changing gears
disconnect the trans cable at trans connection with someone on brake or apply the parking brake
Bad or "jumped" neutral safety switch
If it has a sport mode switch, normally next to the shifter with a 'S' on it, release it. Check the gearbox fluid level. Get the brake bands, filter and pump checked.
check and see if your brakelights are working if notreplace brakelight switch or broken wire to brake switch. the brake light signal releases the shift locksolenoid its so little kids cant pull the lever to drive whenidiot parents leave the car running
Try checking the neutral safety switch. This switch is the one in automatic transmissions that makes the backup lights "flip" on when going from park to drive as you go through the gears. When my neutral safety switch shorted my backup lights stayed on constantly.
This is usually caused because the stoplight switch or the switch that is connected to the brake pedal is burned out. On these vehicles when you press the pedal you can here a click in the trans shifter. If you dont, then i would look at replacing the switch. These switches are used on most vehicles as safety to make sure the occupant is pressing the brake before shifting from park to reverse or drive. Drive to 2nd and 1st gears do not count.
Automatic engines don't have gears.... Pls clarify ur question
