I got a 1991 ford aerostar it will start if you hold the gas down but will start and idle up and down and die?

you might try and replace the throtle positioning switch; its when looking in from the front, just to the left of where the big air tube goes on the engine from your air filter. it has two Philip head scews wich can really be hard to remove so becareful not to strip. It also has a wire harness plug to it. try that
