He is probably doing this because he has no hiding/sleeping place, or one that isn't adequate.

Give him a hedgie bag! Hedgehogs love them. You can do this by cutting two similar squares of fabric material, big enough for your hedgie to get in and sleep comfortably. Sow three sides together, leaving one opening for them to get in and out.

How does the hedgehog keep warm in winter?

Hedgehogs go into hibernation, like bears in the winter. If you have a pet hedgehog, it should NOT go into hibernation, for it can lead to health problems. If your hedgehog pet is going into hibernation, stop it and warm him/her ASAP. A sign him/her might be going into hibernation is a cold belly.

What are the social needs of a hedgehog?

Hedgehogs are fairly independent creatures. Try to give them at least 45 minutes of play time, which means running, hiding and playing on the floor. The more time you spend with your hedgie, though, the more comfortable he'll be with you and other people. And a social hedgehog is a happy one. Keep in mind they are semi-nocturnal, li, and the more fun it will be to have a hedgehog. Keep in mind they are semi-nocturnal, like cats, and like to run around in their cage and sleep little at night, but sleep mostly in the day if there is no need for interaction. They need to be bathed when dirty, which varies for each hedgehog.
