Why wont my bird lay an egg it mates everyday and still no egg. There cockatiels?
It is possible you have 2 males - Birds will mate with the same gender, and When it comes to cockatiels there are only 3 mutations you can visually sex, and this is only if they're a year old, 1) Normal Grey - Males have yellow heads, Females do not 2) White Face - Males have White faces females retain the grey body color on their heads 3) pearls - Males lose the pearl markings by 1 yr old, Females Do NOT lose them. Any other mutation and you will either have to make sure its at least a year old and if its showing signs of a female (quiet) or showing signs of a male (loud, Wolf whistles, Beak Bangs on objects like perches and toys) Or get it DNA Testedif your 100% sure the bird in question is female, Then there could be a problem with the reproduction system. It could also be they are just mating, Birds do not lay eggs every time they mate Companion birds are known to be social maters (meaning they mate just to mate not always to lay eggsalso you did not state how long they've been mating, A week, 2 weeks 3 months, you did not state if they have a nest box attached to their cage. Or their ages IF they are not at least 18 months old PLEASE deter them from mating even if it means putting the male in a different cage then the female, Allowing a bird who is under age to have babies can be deadly to her, Young birds have a higher chance of being egg bound, not being good parents, and not taking care of the baby correctly which in turn the baby or babies will die, if the owner does NOT know how to hand feed birds correctly.------------------------------------------------some thing is worng maybe you should ask a vet or something
