Use 40 watt. You do not have to use all the lights just because they are there. Unscrew every other one to bring down the brightness.

I would suggest that you unplug the lights right away. It sounds like there is a couple of bad splices in both of your receptacle outlets. The outside outlet should be a GFCI type and it should have tripped. Get a qualified person to check the connections before you plug the lights in again. You should be able to load the circuit wattage up to a point where it will trip the breaker, but even under these circumstances the receptacles should not get hot.

Go to someplace like Home Depot or Lowes and see what they have available.

Hello I was having the same problem! Finally I found out that the new "super bright" lights should NOT be used in a car that has daytime running lights. So once I put the cheap GE lights in they have lasted longer than any set that I had put in before! And they are just as bright as the "super bright" lights are anyway.
