I have to question this method, especially since you really don't want to be running that system when it's dry. If I've ever had to run the AC during charging, it was always towards the end of the charge, and it might need to pull some vacuum to help get the last few ounces of refrigerant into the system... the refrigerant carries the PAG oil which lubricates the compressor, and that's why you'd never want to run that system dry.
