To trade between Silver and Blue you need to use the Time Capsule, which is located on the second floor of each Pokémon Center. However, in the early part of the game, it is under repair, and thus unavailable until you have met Bill in Ecruteak City.
After this point, it is possible to trade with the Generation I games; however, there are still some requirements:
* The player cannot have any Pokémon numbered #152 - #251 in their party
* None of the Pokémon to be traded can have moves introduced after Generation I
link cable
You can't.
Pokemon Gold and Silver are gameboy colour games. If you want to trade Pokemon between them you must have two gameboy colours and a gameboy colour link cable.

Yes you can, you just need the trade link cable, and the Time Capsule function is you're looking to trade between older and newer games. Just make sure your link cable will plug into your SPs. I have a Gameboy Color and and SP which I use for trading all the time, and their link cable ports are the same size.
