If it's part of the computer controls it will almost ALWAYS show up when you do a computer diagnostic test. Borrow, rent or buy a code scanner for your Ford and see what it says.
No you were driving and it quit.and if it cranks it is turning over. check for spark at the spark plugs and also for fuel pressure at the injector rail.
Check for trouble codes. Possible cam or crank sensor.
You need to find out if you have injector pulase. if you dont have injector pulase and spark check crank sensor
The most likely problem is the fuel pump. When you turn the car's accessories on you should hear the fuel pump turn on. It shouldn't be very loud. If you don't hear, it may be broken. You should check it. If it is in good shape check the carb/injector. If the carb/injector isn't damaged its a fuel line problem.
If the engine cranks & cranks & cranks before it starts even though it's warmed up already.
i would say you have an injector problem. usually a cloged one can cause that.
if it cranks and does not start. most common on your model bad crank sensor, bad fuel pump or relay or fuse.or bad ignition control module. must check fuel pressure while cranking, check spark and then check for injector pulse signal at injector
Trans problem
If it is four or five turns of the starter normal. If it is four or five times that you turn on and stop then try again, usually loosen fuel pressure. Leaking fuel injector or a fuel pump leaking down.
