Well to do a break line job on a truck is less then to do one on a car. The mechanics labor takes less time. The parts will cost about $15 dollars, The labor is what kills you at about $80 an hour. So for a truck avg. about $120 to $180.
Yes, you need to seriously change your brakes. You do not have any brake fluid in your car because your need brakes badly. If you don't take the car in and the back brakes are bad, it's going to cost a lot of money to repair them.
1. you need to check your brake fluid. If it is TOO low, then no brake fluid to help stop the vehicle. 2. You need to get new brakes.
The power brake booster may be going bad.
back brake springs weak or broken! or a brake part is broken.
probably a rust brake line i am having the same trouble and one of the steel lines is busted
Well before you go out and get factory brakes i wood try and pump your brakes before you going driving the car, pump at least 10 times or more to be safe.
on the drivers side located on a junction block in the line going to the rer brakes
IS it the BRAKE LIGHT or the Parking Brake Light? If it is the BRAKE LIGHT, then your pedal must be going down far enough to hit a sensor that sets off the brake light to tell you your brakes need serviced. Normally this means you are low on brake fluid. If you are low on brake fluid FIND OUT WHY! You may have excessive brake pad wear, or a leaking brake cylinder, or your master cylinder may be going out. If you keep pumping the brakes and then stand on it hard, feel for the pedal to eventually go soft, if it does, then normally the seals in the master cylinder are going out. If you pump the brakes and the pedal never gets hard, then you have a serious brake fluid leak. If the Parkign Brake light stays on, then your parking brake is not fully releasing, at least where the contacts are to remind you it is on. This can be adjusted.
You have to take the wheel off first off and then there are two bolts ( which are very hard to get off when rusted on which are going to be more then likely, and they are a special kind of bolt called 60T torx(looks like a star) bit\ some may be hex ). Then you will see the two brake pads after the calibers come off and all you have to do is pull those off, they are not attached in anyway besides a clip on the brake pad. ( You also have to disconnect the brake hose ). After putting both the new brake pads on you have to compress( with some kind of clamp ) the caliber to reset the pressure or force of the brakes. The after you put it all back in I would recommend using your parking brake so your rear brakes do not freeze up. This is only when your parking and not going to be moving, use your normal brakes for driving. Also there are products that will help with noise from your brakes at all and I would look into that if I were you, I did. Before driving the car after replacing the pads pump your brakes a couple times with the car not started to set the brakes. Keep pumping until you can feel the pressure on the pedal. If the pressure does not change there is something wrong and I would check your brake lines, or hoses for any kind of leak. If you have any questions you can ask at yeoj112689@bex.net
It depends on how fast you are traveling, how well your brakes work and how much braking force is applied. If you are going 1 mph and slammed down on the brake you would stop instantly. If you are going 100 mph and lightly touched the brake who knows when you would stop.
Could be damaged brake shoes or hardware assuming they are drum brakes. Remove rear wheels and drums for a brake inspection. This should show you what's going on. The year, make and model info would help.
It would be your ABS system on your car.
