Very possible.
My experience with Taurus ignition systems tells me that you should test your wires for resistance. If they check out, I would look next at the fuel injectors. If they are fine then you are looking at the ECM/ignition controller as the possible culprit. That is my list in order of expense and difficulty. I hope that helps.
Bad plugs and wires or/and coil
bad plugs
Ignition module.
Code P1399 means:Random missfire Plugs not gaped right might want to check them since you just replaced them or plug wire loose?
They require special spark plugs that measures the resistance between the electrode gap. This is transmitted to the ION sensing module (which is under the plastic cosmetic piece on the engine and mounted to the very top of the intake manifold). Using the wrong plugs will cause the engine to missfire/throw a missfire code.
In a 1995 Ford Taurus : ( there are 6 spark plugs ) for the 3.0 or 3.8 V6 engines
p1399 is manufacturer control ignition system or missfire, this code could be coils, plugwires, or plugs,
A faulty ignition coil or module can cause misfiring.
Yes, if it leaks oil through and on to the spark plugs, it will foul them and cause a missfire.
