it could be a ganglion cyst. usually its harmless and will normally go away on its own.however you can choose to remove it either by having an operation or by draining the fluid in the cyst.
Ganglions can be sore and quite painful, so its usually best to get rid of it medically. Its best to have it drained becvause it can come back from either the operation or draining but with the operation it could come back and you'd have a lump and a scar.
