I have a large pecan tree over my pool. In the fall when the sap starts to fall out of the tree my pool turns green. What do I do to prevent this every fall?

I have run across this problem with Eucalyptus Trees, as they have a high phosphate content in their leaves and sap, being algae eats phosphates .... a green pool in less than a day.
I recommend that the next time your pool turns green. Take a water sample ( 16 0z water bottle is perfect) to your local pool store, Leslie's is our local branch name; and have them analyze what agent in the sap is causing the algae to be hospitable. They may also recommend a product they sell to remedy the problem. Hope it works out for you.
