Two Part for this answer:
(I):
error code C31.11 common problem
there is something screwy with the camera. That's the technical part of this post. Non-technically, take the battery out. unlpug the power cord and then firmly smack the base of the camera with the heel of your hand about 5 times. replug power cord and battery and try to remove. There is some switch that gets jammed and this can loosen it. worked for me and a few other people. you are not alone in this.
(II):
Thank you very much! for part (I) - I've been struggling with this for some time now - only your advise worked for me. I would like to note that the error code I had was C:32:30 and occasionally C:31:30.
Actually my story was a bit more complex to begin with. I had a jammed cassette inside my Sony TRV58E. It was jammed in the position where the cassette cage is in its upper position but its door does not open. To solve that I was advised by a different post which I cannot find right now, hence I will try to record the steps that worked for me to solve that problem.
1. Use a fine screw to unscrew the cassette door plastic cover (2 bolts). 2. locate the two springs (responsible for the door opening). 3. The spring closer to the cameras power switch is connected on one of its ends to a metal loop which is the mechanical lock of the compartments door. 4. Pull this metal loop to the opposite direction than the spring does (elongate the spring), this should unlock the mechanical lock and the compartments door should slide out. 5. If the last step did not worked try to remove the spring carefully (not to loose it) and the repeat step 4 with the pulling - it should work. 6. don't forget to return the spring back to its place and also the plastic cover. 7. It is perhaps possible without the plastic cover removal - then the metal lock is harder to locate and manipulate. Thanks again and good luck for the others.
I suggest that you use pictograms.
