yes. it is. don't give up.
there is a fight or flight response to bad news. different people show different responses. the fight is obvious. but the flight can be from denial to giving up. you just have to remember that Diabetes isn't the end of the road just a bump in it. try researching diabetes and how to stay healthy with it etc. most of the time you can find support groups as well. but most important talk to your friends and family about it, they can help you through it, support you, and answer questions you might have

I can understand in a way why you feel so depressed, but i to have been diagnosed very recently, but you should try find an easy way of dealing with it, and moving forward.
If you are diagnosed with diabetes, you should check your glucose level on a regular basis. You can find out from your doctor when & how often you should check it.
