Well, Then apparently it's refurbished & you will have to buy or download a new OS such as Windows, or Ubuntu. I can give you a link to get Ubuntu for free, all you have to do is download it, & get a program called Power ISO & burn the image to a CD-R Media. After You burn the image you just insert in your "New" laptop & follow the installation instructions.

You should not attempt to unlock a laptop that you just found. It is not yours. You should contact the lost and found department where you found it and/or contact the police.
What i have found is that it is held on December 25 just like our Christmas!
From personal experience I found that Army boot camp was quite physically challenging. It was just as tough mentally however.

With the recovery disks, just insert disk 1 into your drive, boot laptop to CD and your on the way to recovery.
You may have lost the boot record on the hard drive or the hard drive may have failed. Try booting from a floppy or CD, whatever rescue boot device you have. If you can look at the C: drive from the alternate boot device you may have just lost the boot record. If you can't get to the C: drive you may have either a drive or a controller failure.
I found this ASUS laptop at Tigerdirect, i used dollars but it should be just under 300 pounds. Its got a fast Core 2 Duo, big screen, and could play decent games on it. :)
