Most everywhere in Hawai'i the sea (ke kai) has a name to describe it. In the Kona area of Hawai'i island, the sea is called Ke Kai Malino (calm or peaceful sea). Kona is a big area and there are other names for the sea there also.... Anyhow this phrase is common in songs and means "by the peaceful sea in Kona"
