What is the hole in the rear sight of the Crosman Quest 1000x?
I had to go look at my Quest 1000x and could not find any hole in the sight, but my Quest is about 4 years old and Crosman may have added it to yours. Usually a sight with a small hole is called a peep sight. I have a notch sight on my rifle. The only other hole on top of the rifle is towards the back of the barrel and that is a Scope stop. Some scopes have a pin on the bottom pf the scope mount to place in the hole, this keeps the scope from moving when the rifle fires.
What airgun should you get Gamo Big Cat or Crosman Quest 1000x?
They are both Excellent Rifles but I personally feel the Gamo has the edge on the Crosman. Both shoot lead pellets at 1000 FPS. Both will shoot the PBA pellets at 1200 FPS. The Gamo has a 38lbs cocking effort while the Crosman has a 31.5lbs cocking effort. The Crosman with scope is a little less expensive than the Gamo with scope. So it this isn't a big deal to you then I would go with the Gamo Big cat. Do you need to lubricate Crosman quest 1000?
The owners manual says to use Crosman RMCOIL in the compression chamber every few hundred shots. I use the RMCOIL on the hinges. Never use any other oil on the rifle it could damage the seal. Never use regular gun cleaning equipment of solvents on the Quest it will damage the parts and seals. See the link below for the RMCOIL and the Owners manual. Normally you do not want to tamper with the design of an air rifle because it could cause damage to other parts of the rifle that may not be able to handle the change in design.
