A bit of a burn on the wall of the cavity (the cooking space) in a microwave isn't generally a problem. Remove the foil and avoid placing metal objects back inside the oven again. Put a cup of water inside and see if it boils in a couple of minutes. If so, it is still working and you can use it until it dies naturally.

I put aluminum foil in the microwave and it arched and caused a burn on the back of the oven so is it safe?

Not until you remove the foil. Don't use Gold or silver trim dishes in it either - or any other metal objects. Pretty fire display tho - wasn't it?

Can aluminum be used in microwaves?

You should never put any metals in the microwave at all, unless it is pre-packing for a microwaveable food product. Most metal items will act as a conductor for electricity in the microwave, causing sparks. Particularly if the metal is pointed at either end (ie cutlery). The microwaveenergyis reflected back and forth by the metal, causing burning and in some cases, a small explosion that can send glass and metalshrapnel flying overtheroom, like a military fragmentation grenade.Aluminium which comes with microwaveable meals are designed so they can safely be placed into microwaves. They are thin and have been adjusted so that they cannot reflect microwaves.Only placealuminiumin the microwave if the instructions on the food product say so. Otherwise - don't.

Why does metal not go in a microwave?

Metal in a microwave can cause sparks, fire, and damage to the microwave due to the way microwaves interact with metal surfaces, reflecting the waves back to the magnetron (microwave generator). This can lead to a buildup of electrical currents and potentially damage the microwave. It is not safe to put metal in the microwave.

Can you turn Aluminium foil back into aluminium?

No, it is not possible to turn aluminum foil back into pure aluminum through a simple process. Aluminum foil is already made from pure aluminum, but it has been processed and structured differently to form the thin foil material. Recycling aluminum foil allows it to be reused but does not revert it back to its original state.
