I really like this shy guy but im afraid that I'll get rejected but he stares at me a lot?

I'm in the same situation. I really like this guy and I believe I have caught him staring at me before. We are both in high school, he is 1 or 2 grades older, and I see him everyday at lunch. He sits with some guys and girl but seems kinda shy and doesn't really talk that much. I want to just go over and say something to him but since it's a small school 1) i don't want to look stupid and 2) rumors will spread and soon everyone will know if he rejects me. I'm not looking for embarassment though. What should i do?

Maybe he has been rejected often and is afraid that you will reject him. He probably looks at you like you are too good.
