I received a 2 lb box of packaged cheese the package is blotted from the box but still in package not opened it is like melted from the top of package and dented in is this cheese safe to eat?

What you seem to be describing is a box of government commodity or Velveta Cheese. This is a processed pasterized cheese which is very soft like a Brie Cheese. Just by squeezing the package firmly with your hand you can leave your grabbing impressions.
This is great a cheese if you're making Macaroni & Cheese dishes and Nacho Cheese dips.

If it looks ok, smells ok then it's ok to use on your cheeseboard.
