there is a idle control unit directly under the throttle body inlet. it has 2 - 3 hoses into and out of it remove it and take the ends off of it but be carefull not to lose the springs . on one end inside the cover there will be a white nylon cap with slots on either side of a round button like piece of metal . the nylon piece is your problem . the 2 slots are actually used as a screw tighten the nylon piece down and the idle will go normal but before you do this take the whole thing apart and clean it with carb cleaner and when you reinstall the nylon piece put a thin coat of blue silicone on the threads . this will keep it from coming loose again. this unit is the hot idle control and you wont find it in a manual anywhere,,,,personal recomendation : tighten it down till it stops and come back one full turn then put it together and run it if you desire a diff idle adjust it , tight slows the idle and loose speeds the idle , nasjas108@aol.com ok. that was a mouthful. don't think that will fix it though, he "surges". the most common problem is either air in the coolant system, temp sensor must be immersed in coolant, or the temp sensor is bad. you won't always get a code or eng light to come on but, they short internally causing confusion with the computer. it may seem fine for first few minutes before warm-up but then the surging, sluggishness, backfiring or even stalling. reset computer by pulling backup/radio fuse under hood for at least 30sec. then drive, per my opinion of what works best, 10mi @ 50mph or better for computer relearn. that should fix you up. look, if you have a coolant leak... you bet that's your problem with these acuras/hondas!
