You can ask him to do something which will indicate you want to spend time with him. You can also show interest in something he does such as sports. Then see how it goes. Just to try and do somehing or a project together and feel out the situation

So if it was TRUE love, he would love you back. Which apparently, he doesn't-

ok do not listen to this person please. (no offense person we all still love you) i am in the same situation and i know you cant just let go if you really love the person. first identify that you love the person. can they do no wrong in your eyes? if they hurt you (emotionally) would you still want to be with them? if the answer is yes then my best advice is just try to tell the person indirectly. dont be afraid that they wont care if you told them that you loved them (theres only one person i know that would not care. of course its the guy i love...) just do whatever you think is right and what you need.
