I was embarressed and almost killed while saving someone's life and I want to know if i should accept the award they are giving me in front of all the people that saw the whole thing?

I don't know. It's your choice. If it were me, I would take it just to show I appreciate their gift and actually CARED about saving their life. Don't be embaressed that you almost killed someone but actually you were trying to save them instead. Your very lucky, so thank whatever god you worship and think about the gift.
