I went out with a girl for about 5 months but 50 percent of the time she was loving and caring the rest cold and heartless. I ended up ignoring her constantly and we broke up. why did i do this?

Because she is not your ideal type of girl. You want someone to give you her full attention when she is with you. If she is distracted with something or someone else when you are together, maybe you think to yourself what is the point of being "together" at least at that moment, when her attention is not really there.
