No one could have possibly lived from 1750 to 1900. They would be too old. Unless, in fact, you want the name of an inventor who lived in that time period. One good example of such would be Alexander Graham Bell (1847-1922).
I would not call them important. But Monet, one of the world's best-loved painters, lived there and took most of his subjects from his garden from the 1890s on.
