Yes you do divide. 30 / 2.5 = 12mL

or you could say, there are FIVE 1/2 gal in 2.5 gal.

Take that 5 and divide. 30 / 5 = 6 or 6mL per 1/2 gal.

4 quarts to a gal, so

2.5 * 4 = 10 so there are 10 quarts in 2.5 gal.

30 / 10 = 3 so it would be 3mL per quart.
