Yep - one of the really nifty things about being God, apparently, is that you get to exist as a "triune" being. Quite literally three-in-one, as you (very accurately) put it. That's the "Holy Trinity" that you might have heard of. When you get into the theology of it and the implications that it has it gets a bit more complicated (and makes for really great conversation) but on the face of it, God is simultaneously Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Cool, huh?
No. The early Christians did not view God, Christ, and the holy spirit as a Trinity. Says The Encyclopædia Britannica: "Neither the word Trinity nor the explicit doctrine appears in the New Testament, nor did Jesus and his followers intend to contradict the Shema [a Hebrew prayer] in the Old Testament: 'Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord' (Deut. 6:4)." Moreover, they believed Christ's words: "The Father is greater than I am." (John 14:28) Jesus' early followers drew clear distinctions between God, Christ, and the holy spirit. In fact, they baptized disciples (1) in the name of the Father, (2) in the name of the Son, and (3) in the name of the holy spirit, not in the name of a Trinity.
Jesus told the disciples that he would send the Holy spirit , to comfort the disciples once he is no longer on earth.
The term "Holy Spirit" refers to the third part of the holy trinity of the Christian religion. It was the spirit that washed over the disciples of Jesus Christ after his crucifixion and brought them peace.
Do you mean holy water? if so...holy water is used in baptism to represent the holy spirit. This is used because when Christians believe in Jesus, the holy spirit enters them.
Prior to the death of Jesus the "spirit", or tangible manifestation of God, would reside on the ark of the covenant or in the holy of holies. With the death of Jesus the veil was torn and God's spirit could live within his people.
To be filled with the holy spirit is to be presumed "Filled with God". What I learned in primary school, which was Christian. The Holy Spirit was Jesus after he had been killed, when you are filled with it means something like filled with High morale and such. Being filled with the HS = Filled with morale righteousness or something.
The Holy Spirit means a "Paraclete" or an advocate. The Lord Jesus also called the Holy Spirit the "spirit of truth".The symbols of the Holy Spirit are the water which signifies the Baptism, the Anointing with the oil,the Fire which symbolizes the transforming energy of the Holy Spirit, the Cloud and Light with these two images occur together, the Seal is a symbol close to that anointing, the Finger that Jesus cast out Demons, and the last one is the Dove whose symbolism refers to Baptism.
the dove means the Holy Spirit because when Jesus was getting baptized in the river Jordan a dove came and sat on him supposedly sent by the Holy Spirit.
The dove is the symbol of the Holy Spirit. At the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist, the Holy Spirit descended on him in the form of a dove, so the dove is used at both baptisms and confirmation.
It symbolises how Jesus died for them, and whilst they are underwater their sins are "washed away", which was the purpose of Jesus' death.
When Christians refer to the trinity, they mean the Holy Trinity: The Father (God), the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit. They are all considered God though they are different aspects of him.
When a person is saved by the Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit indwells that person. Some where, possibly in our spirit the Holy Spirit lives. The church is the Body of Christ. Yes there are church buildings but these are mere buildings. Jesus Christ is the HEAD of the church and each saved person is added to the body of believers. Thus the church is indwelt by the Holy Spirit (Colossians 1:18; I Corinthians 6:19; I Corinthians 12:14; 12:27.)
The light is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is God.
