Back in the early 1500's, the Catholic Church was at her height in power. People donated tons of money to churches and MONASTERIES. Also, in 1534 (or around that date), Henry VIII broke away from the Church, making himself Head of the Church in England. Since most of the lower clergy and monks disagreed with this idea, Henry III plundered and closed many monasteries and churches. In fact, Elizabeth I plundered the monasteries to a greater extent than Henry III. I can't remember which one would send men to 'examine' monasteries and say that they are 'impure' and close them. And then, they would take the goods out of those monasteries.
I suppose it was bad, i mean, they didn't have anywhere to pray or where they can be read to by the monks reading the bible. Henry didn't exactly think when he decided to close the monasteries because he was in such rage to wait. Technically i think it was good for Henry but not for the rest of England. my answer the monastries took in many poor people ,ill people and etc but when Henry closed it down those people would have no where to go sleep or stay .
From my opinion Henry closed the monasteries as he wanted money. Wealth was an important reason as he could get money from land from the catholic church and gold from the church as well. He wanted a divorce as well as being greedy for money as he wanted to marry Anne Boleyn so he could try to have a son however the pope would not grant this divorce as he was held hostage by King of Spain who was Catherine of Aragons father. So this is a main reason why Henry closed down the monasteries. Another reason was power he was sick of the monks and priests taking orders from the pope as he wanted to boss people about and so did show him who was boss and became in charge of the reformation this made him powerful. One large identification made by the king himself was that the monasteries needed to go monks doing usual daily tasks such as praying , teaching, helping the poor and looking after the sick instead they went out partying (getting drunk) and going to bed late. The king was angry because of behaviour. That's why he closed down the monasteries.
he sent inspectors to go and find things wrong with the monasteries so they would have to close down
Henry's was so nasty to his Wifes because they didnt give him a baby boy so when henry died the baby would take after his place on the throne
Henry the 8th closed down the monasteries because he wanted more people to come to his church. He wanted to be in full control. He sent round his friend to go round all the monasteries and see if there is any rules they have broken and tell him if the bad or good news but he didn't want to tell him the bad news. If he did Henry Will be so mad he would kill him so he said they all broke the rules and if they didn't he would go back and dig to see if they had. Henry's friend went round to Peter borough Abbey and they didn't want to close down they bribed Henry with Thousands of Pound's and Henry excepted. That is why Peter borough Abbey survived.
King Henry IV would loose his power
The monasteries were dissolved for a number of reasons: * Henry VIII was basically bankrupt following wars with France and needed to raise capital. Dissolution of the monasteries, seizure of their land would bring in capital. * Smaller (less profitable) monasteries were dissolved first. The process masqueraded as a purifying mission to rid the new Anglican church of the sorts of excesses which had been recently criticised by Luther Et Al throughout Europe. * Following the break with Rome, all of this was a lot easier as Henry did not have anyone to answer to regarding clerical issues. (It should be noted that dissolution of monasteries was not necessarily religiously motivated) * Monasteries were a central part of the local communities. By eradicating these, Henry was essentially centralizing English society; a form of capitalism often debated as 'Absolute' rule. (i.e. dictatorship)
A closed circuit is necessary for electricity to power our electronics because it allows the flow of electrons to complete a continuous loop, enabling the transfer of energy from the power source to the device. Without a closed circuit, the electrons would not be able to flow and the device would not receive the necessary power to function.
Henry was a Catholic until the day he died except he would not have the Pope or any other set above him. He was head of the Church of England and it was Catholic except the monasteries and shrines dissolved. He would put to death Papists and Protestants on the same scaffold.
The monks who lived there and the Catholic Church which received some of the revenues from the monasteries and churches.
in some aspects. but in my opinion i would consider him unpopular. He closed down all the monasteries from 1536-1539, and executed 72,000 people.
